When driving a vehicle equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), the correct method for applying the brakes is to firmly and steadily press the brake pedal. When you apply the brakes with ABS, it will automatically modulate the brake pressure for you. This means that you should not pump the brakes or release pressure, as that can negate the benefits of the system. Instead, you should apply continuous pressure on the brake pedal, allowing the ABS to perform its function of maintaining traction.

The approach of treating a vehicle with ABS the same way as a vehicle without it can lead to wheel lockup and loss of control, particularly in slippery conditions.
